3 years ago I started working for Dwi Sapta Pratama, the largest local advertising company in Indonesia, to develop their Digital & Social Media division called iNexus. It was a bitter-sweet process building this team, especially on the 1st year. We broke the mold and created new ways of digital & social media communication, partnered with Google in our 1st year of service and became runner up in SEA ad billing. Our second year our hard work payed off with out of the box campaigns that resulted in high customer return and satisfaction. We over achieved our target by 50%. iNexus became a very sexy part of Dwi Sapta and caught the eye of a certain multinational company.

The full iNexus team in early 2015

2015 saw a big change, it was the start of time where advertisers were not spending money on traditional media. We moved to video ad spending, taking advantage of advertisers who owned content but reluctant to buy air time on traditional media. We also acquired new clients in FMCG and Japanese brands who usually only deal with other Japanese ad agencies. It was a struggling year, but we broke many grounds. However, the changes coming to the company as it starts going into the transition towards being acquired by a global brand was not the future I see me being involved in. I have done with the task I was hired to do, its time to leave gracefully, as advertising for me isn’t adapting as fast as technology demands it to be. But truthfully I was bored and not interested to be a larger global corporate pawn who is still stuck in the stone age.

I love the team I built, we are solid and functioned so well. I am proud to have led such great people, share experiences. Its heartbreaking, but nobody ever grow from their comfort zone. Dwi Sapta and iNexus will be a part of me. For now, au dieu.
